Erika has a Law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico’s Law Faculty where she specialized in Intellectual Property Law. She has a Diploma in Constitutional Law and Litigation (Amparo) from the same institution.
Erika has successfully completed the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) Intellectual Property Course. Her native language is English, so she is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Erika is a member of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, A.C. (“AMPPI”, by its acronym in Spanish), where she is currently part of the Committee on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications, Committee on Distinctive Signs and the Committee on International Treaties for the 2023-2024 biennium.
Prior to joining Dorantes Advisors, Erika worked as an attorney in the private Industrial Property Law practice for more than five years. She has experience in intellectual property protection, industrial property protection, registration and prosecution of traditional and non-traditional trademarks, names and commercial notices (licenses, transfers, assignments, mergers, coexistence agreements, letters of consent, renewals, declarations of use), trademark litigation, trademark maintenance, violations of industrial property, registration, prosecution and maintenance in Industrial Property matters in Mexico and in foreign counties.
Erika loves reading and is an amateur practitioner of confectionery and baking, as such she dedicates her free time to reading novels and making different desserts and delicacies. She is also a fierce defender and lover of animals, and she loves to spend time with her dogs Appa and Chimuelo.
